The long awaited reopening of Plantation’s front entrance has finally arrived. This has all come about as a result of Broward County’s compliance with the Jessica Lunsford Act. The single point of entry is just one part of a program designed to do everything we can to ensure the safety of all our students. To these ends, we are reworking several of the drop-off and pick-up traffic patterns around the school.
Beginning Monday October 12th, 2009, the East parking lot is for teacher parking and BCPS Busses only. Parents, this means that the East Parking lot will be closed to parent traffic and student drop-off. Students who are dropped-off in the East lot will be subject to progressive disciplinary action, starting with after school detentions.

Online School Payments
Friday, 30 October 2009
The Broward County School District has developed a faster and more efficient way to accept payments from parents and students. The school board will begin accepting online payments for school sponsored activities, such as yearbook, field trips, fundraisers, etc.
The users of the online system must have a Student ID number available before they begin. (All students have been issued a unique Student ID number. If this number is not available, please contact Plantation High School [PLH]).
The Broward School District has become more innovative, and we appriciate feedback received from parents and students regarding this online payment initiative. You will find the online payment option safe, simple, and convenient.
If you have questions or comments regarding online payments, please contact Nell Johnson in the Internal Accounts Office at (754) 321 - 0589.

The Math Department would like to get their hands on enough Graphing Calculators to create classroom sets for students to use in Algebra 2, Pre Calculus, and Calculus. Are there any families out there with a graphing calculator just gathering dust as the original user has gone off to college or just no longer needs it?? Or does anyone have a connection to help us find a source of donations of new or used graphing calculators? The calculators that could be used in class are the Texas Instruments TI 83 and TI 84 versions. If you can help or have one to donate please contact

The Plantation High School Food Bank is running low and Peer Counseling is taking donations of canned goods and other nonperishable items. They have provided many families in the past with donations when in time of need and would like to continue to do so. Items may be dropped off in room 196D. This is an ongoing project so please contribute whenever you are able. Room 196D is Ms Theresa Young's classroom, and is beside the checkin desk just inside the front door! Very convenient!
Roberta Schoeller (Family Counselor) and Shawn Howell (School Social Worker) have also asked the Peer Counselors to assist them in collecting items for some students and their families at PHS who are homeless or displaced. I am attaching part of an e-mail which explains what is needed. Perhaps some of you have some outside contacts that may be of assistance. Any of the following items may also be dropped off to room 196D.
